ICAC-CI 335 - Advanced Wireless Network Investigations

This course is funded through OJJDP. To register for this class, you must be affiliated with an ICAC Task Force. Furthermore, you must agree to comply with the Best Practices and Standards established by ICAC. If you have any questions about the ICAC Best Practices and Standards, please contact your ICAC commander.

AWNI introduces techniques for locating wireless devices connected to wireless networks. The course covers standards and best practices for locating wireless devices using free and low-cost hardware and software solutions. WiFi terminology, Kali Linux, command line interface (CLI), and packet capturing techniques are covered. Other topics include wireless networking standards, conducting a detailed wireless site survey, and legal considerations. AWNI is a mixture of lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises in which students locate wireless devices using specialized hardware and software.

• Locate connected wireless devices. Desktops, laptops, tablets, wireless storage devices, phones, and more.
• Wireless networking standards. Effects of different standards on attempts to physically locate devices.
• Hands-on. Standards and best practices. Experience using free software and low-cost hardware tools.

AWNI is a 2-day classroom course.
