Prosecuting Insurance Fraud Resource

This course was funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

This resource is intended for prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement officers to support the investigation and prosecution of insurance crime and provide potential local assistance specific to your case via the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

The information in this resource addresses insurance crime in the Property and Casualty (P&C) arena (auto, homeowners and commercial policies).  P&C insurance crime spans a wide range of property related fraud as well as fraud medically related. It should be noted that health care fraud and P&C medical fraud basically only differ in the type of policy providing the payment. In health care fraud the entity providing the insurance payment is a health care insurance company (e.g. Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Aetna, etc.) or a government. In P&C medical fraud it is a P&C insurance company providing the insurance payment. The fraud schemes are virtually identical and just as criminal.

There are no pre-requisites for accessing this resource.
