This course is funded through
OJJDP. To register for this class, you must be affiliated with an ICAC Task

This 1-day course is for law enforcement investigators and analysts, where
device location information may be of importance. Class concepts include
device identifiers (IDs) in general, advertising IDs in detail, important legal
considerations, overall investigative process, and tools available to law
enforcement. Students will use commercially available investigative tools
for querying databases of Advertising ID’s and displaying their recorded
and Social Media. Scenario regarding digital life integration,
personally identifiable information (PII), Advertising
ID and what it means for law enforcement.
Device Identifiers. Discussion of the various types and states of identifiers
for both mobile devices and computers.
Advertising IDs in detail, what we know, and the questions that remain.
Legal. Discussion of important legal considerations, including
best practices for integrating the use of Advertising ID into investigations at

To participate in live
demonstrations, students must use a Gmail account to create Facebook, Twitter,
and Instagram accounts prior to coming to class.
Knowledge and skills related to open source intelligence gathering and mobile device
