RICHMOND, VA and DORADO HILLS, CA April 22, 2020 – The National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) and the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) announced a new partnership today to coordinate their efforts in support of public and private sector financial crime and fraud investigators.

The new partnership reflects the need for coordinated training, technical assistance, and information sharing focused on the increasing prevalence and sophistication of fraud and financial crime. By working together, IAFCI and NW3C can serve the needs of police, prosecutors, and private sector investigators as they address complex challenges. This partnership is especially timely as the COVID-19 crisis is causing an explosion in associated financial and cybercrimes.

NW3C, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, provides nationwide support system for law enforcement and regulatory agencies tasked with the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of economic and high-tech crime. In addition to delivering training in computer forensics, cyber and financial crime investigations, and intelligence analysis, NW3C offers analytical technical support to agencies investigating and prosecuting white collar and related crimes. Both NW3C and IAFCI are recognized for helping their members investigate and mitigate organized and complex financial crimes and fraud. This partnership strengthens the existing support framework for police, prosecutors, regulatory agencies, and private sector investigators. This partnership facilitates the inclusion of IAFCI subject matter experts in NW3C training, and increased accessibility of NW3C training for IAFCI members as both organizations continue to provide world-class training, technical assistance, and information sharing on a global scale.

“NW3C is pleased to join forces with IAFCI to share information and resources and work together on strategies to effectively address financial and cyber threats. I am confident this alliance will mutually benefit both organizations as we continue to serve our membership and support their efforts in combating financial fraud,” said Glen Gainer, President and CEO of NW3C.

Michael Carroll, President of IAFCI, said, “In the ever-changing landscape of fraud, financial and cybercrimes, there is one remedy that has proven successful. It is the combination of communication, collaboration, and cooperation that makes the difference. The International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) is excited to partner with NW3C to bring law enforcement and the private sector together through training, awareness, and prevention techniques that will make the difference in the fight against financial and cybercriminal activity in America."
