FC175 Victim-Centered Solutions to Elder Exploitation

This online course is a series of ten victim-centered, interactive web-based training modules covering trauma-informed promising practices for detecting and responding to elder financial exploitation. Each module will focus on one victim of elder financial exploitation, and address how Adult Protective Service (APS) workers, financial industry professionals, law enforcement, and other responders detect, respond to, and support victims.

This course was developed by the National White Collar Crime Center under grant No. 2018-V3-GX-K021 awarded by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The introductory module for the Victim Centered Responses to Elder Financial Exploitation training series provides an overview of trauma, discusses how trauma affects the brain, and outlines best practices for a trauma-informed approach. It covers introductory level information critical to understanding and applying trauma-informed care when meeting with potential victims of elder financial exploitation. This module must be completed prior to completing the accompanying 10 scenario-based modules.
